Christi Breen
After 20 years of representing world-renowned fine artists in Manhattan and New Orleans galleries, Christie Breen is now a full-time working artist based in Covington, Louisiana. A native of New Orleans, she draws inspiration from memories of the South as well as her experiences up North.
Known as “The Gallery Chick,” Breen’s style is a dynamic blend of traditional techniques and contemporary innovations.
Breaking the boundaries of traditional art methods is her passion. She creates backgrounds and surfaces by combining several unconventional media, allowing their chemical properties to interact organically. Her goal is to achieve a lavish, ethereal atmosphere, offering a contemporary contrast to otherwise representational imagery.
Breen has spent the past six years perfecting her specialty: sculpted layers of painted fiberglass. Within these layers, she incorporates original photography alongside found antique imagery. Her artworks often contain historical references, metaphors, and allegorical themes, each piece thoughtfully imagined, researched, and designed to evoke personal memories and connections for the viewer.
This entire body of work has been titled THE CONTEMPORARY PAST.
Breen has exhibited in numerous juried shows throughout Louisiana and the Gulf Coast, and her paintings are part of private and corporate collections nationwide.
She holds a Fine Arts degree from Louisiana State University in Baton Rouge and brings over 25 years of professional experience in the fine art world. Her impressive career includes roles as Senior Art Consultant for Angela King Gallery on historic Royal Street in New Orleans; Senior Art Consultant and Curator for Jamali NYC Gallery in SoHo, Manhattan; Gallery Director at Wentworth Galleries–New York, where she specialized in the art of Peter Max; and Director of Framed Art for major retail brands such as Bed Bath & Beyond, Kohl’s, and Target.
Specializing in Contemporary Art, Breen is dedicated to her clients, providing not only beautiful, unique fine art but also delivering exceptional customer service. After many years in New York City, she returned to her beloved New Orleans, where she now passionately shares her art and expertise.
In 2021, Breen officially launched her own art company, The Gallery Chick, offering original one-of-a-kind paintings and a range of professional services, including collector in-home consultation, curatorial assistance, and art training for galleries and businesses.
